Horse Rider Performance
Penyrenglyn Drama Workshop sell out performance
Over the last year Penyrenglyn Drama Workshop have been devising and preparing for their production of The Horse Rider, performed at the Penyrenglyn Project at the beginning of August, 2011. The group have been working very hard to develop and devise this original piece of work. They have attended several intensive residencies and a trip to the Big Pit Mining Museum, alongside weekly sessions and intensive residentials and rehearsal periods. Using devising methods, story telling techniques and working in role the group developed their fantastic story over this period of time.
The Horse Rider performance explored bilingually the heritage of the Rhondda Valley, it plunged the capacity audience into the depths of history and family life during the coal mining period of the early nineteen hundreds up to the present day. It combined the time periods and took the audience on a journey to discover an ancient artefact; The Horse Rider leads to the path of death and hope and magically comes to life helping Lilly and her family along the way…
A fantastic afternoon was had by all who attended this amazing performance. It brought back memories for many and a few familiar stories and local sights were seen too. Bringing our history and roots to the present day through the eyes of the young people at The Penyrenglyn Drama Workshop.
